Cyperus surinamensis (Tropical Flatsedge) is a species of perennial herb in the family sedges. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Rio Grande Do Norte, Maranhao, Minas Gerais, Distrito Federal, RondôNia, Pampa, ParaíBa, Pantanal, Amazônia, Sergipe, Ceará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Pernambuco, Caatinga, SãO Paulo, Tocantins, GoiáS, Puerto Rico, Bahia, Cerrado, Piauí, Roraima, Rio De Janeiro, Rio Grande Do Sul, Acre (Brazil), Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, The Contiguous United States, Mata Atlântica, Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Amapá, Paraná, and Pará. They have simple, broad leaves.
