Tufted perennial herb, up to 1 m. Stems erect or straggling. Leaves spirally arranged around the lower stems, sheathing at the base, narrowly lanceolate. Inflorescences mostly terminal, branched, 5 to 15 flowers. Flowers striking but delicate, pale bluish purple with long lateral, curved stamens.
