A tree 9-12 m. high; twigs grayish, appressed-puberulent; leaves 9-14 cm. long; leaflets 5 or 7, alternate, oblong-elliptic, the lower leaflets sometimes nearly oval, 4-9 cm. long, 3-3.7 cm. broad, acuminate at the apex, inequilateral and acute at the base, midvein elevated above, puberulent, glabrous or with short, scattered hairs beneath, petioluled, without pellucid dots; panicle axillary, shorter than the leaves, the branches densely puberulent; flowers shortpedicelled; calyx puberulent, the lobes triangular or triangular-ovate; petals ovate, 2-2.5 mm. long, 1.5-1.7 mm. broad, acutish, slightly puberulent, coriaceous; staminal tube short-cupshaped, glabrous, the teeth acuminate; anthers ohlong or oblong-ovate, glabrous; ovary hirsute; style short, columnar, glabrous; capsule "oblong or somewhat ovoid, 2 cm. long, blackish, tuberculate. "
