Perennial, the caudex more or less branched. Stems solitary or several together, not scape-like, 2-7 dm. long, spreading, finely hirsute; leaf-blades thin, mostly triangular in outline and more or less hastate, 2.5-7 cm. wide, somewhat hirsute, 3-parted, the divisions coarsely toothed or incised, slightly acuminate ; pedicels hirsute; sepals awn-tipped, the outer ones 9-10 mm. long, the bodies elliptic or ovate-elliptic, hirsute and ciliate, the tips slender ; petals rose-purple, 12-14 mm. long ; style-column 20-30 mm. long, hirsute ; carpel-bodies 3.5^1 mm. long, sparingly pilose.
