Spots subcircular or irregular, sometimes covering a large part of the leaf, pale-yellowish, usually surrounded by a dark purplish-black border, with a yellowish area outside of this which gradually blends off into the healthy tissue of the leaf, reaching a diameter of 5 mm. to 1 cm., visible on both sides of the leaf but more distinct on the upper surface; pycnidia few, globose, reaching a diameter of 90-150 m; spores ovoid, 2.5 X 4-6 m-
