Annual or perennial herbs or subshrubs. Inflorescence of few-many-flowered, often subspherical, whorls;
bracts leaf-like; bracteoles linear, ascending. Calyx tubular, 10-nerved, straight or curved, with 5-10 equal or unequal
spine-tipped teeth. Corolla 2-lipped, white; upper lip usually entire and hairy; lower lip 3-lobed, the middle lobe longest. Stamens 4.
Similar to the genus Acrotome. The differences are explained under that genus.

Erect annual herb, up to 1m. Usually unbranched stems, finely hairy. Leaves opposite, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, margins coarsely serrate-crenate. Inflorescence of several spaced, many-flowered verticils with long thistle-like calyx teeth. Flowers small, white.

Leucas: Brief Summary

Leucas is a genus of plants in the family Lamiaceae, first described by Robert Brown in 1810. It contains over 200 species, widespread over much of Africa, and southern and eastern Asia (Iran, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, etc.) with a few species in Queensland and on various islands in the Indian Ocean.
