Shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite; stipules deeply 2-fid. Flowers 4-6-merous, solitary or in terminal and lateral cymes. Calyx tube turbinate; lobes ± foliaceous. Corolla hypocrateriform, white; tube slender; lobes imbricate. Ovary 2-locular. Fruit indehiscent, crowned with persistent calyx lobes.

Heinsia is a small genus of flowering shrubs or small trees in the family Rubiaceae.[1] They are native to tropical Africa.[2] The genus was first formally named in 1830 by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle.[3]
