This rare, endemic tree is now known only from a few places on Hawaii and Maui. While I found several trees, a few were dead and the living ones appeared to be struggling. In this photo, the light barked tree near the center is 'Ahakea (Bobea timonioides) with Lama (Diospyros sandwicensis) on the right and further background. To the left is what looks like a young Sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum) and Naio (Myoporum sandwicense). Elevation of this photo around 1400ft/427m.
