Description

Erect or procumbent annual herbs with a taproot. Leaves compound, variable, pinnate to 3-pinnate. Umbels compound. Bracts generally 0; bracteoles present, linear. Petals white or pinkish. Fruit covered with glochidiate spines.
Somewhat similar to species of Agrocharis, but these differ in possessing bracts.

Torilis is a genus of plants in the family Apiaceae which are known generally as the hedge parsleys. They are native to Eurasia and North Africa but have been introduced to other continents. T. arvensis is quite widespread in North America but is facing population decline in the UK.
