Unarmed shrubs. Sepals caducous. Leaves entire. Flowers solitary, male or bisexual, large and showy. Sepals 3-4. Petals free, white, 7-12, more numerous than the sepals. Stamens numerous. Ovary sessile, 1-locular. Fruit a woody capsule; valves 8, thick.
