Senna obtusifolia (Chinese Senna) is a species of shrub in the family Fabaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to U.S. Virgin Islands, the contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, Pará, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Norte, Bahia, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Sul, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Pampa, Mata Atlântica, Roraima, Minas Gerais, Alagoas, São Paulo, Caatinga, Amazônia, Goiás, Paraná, Amazônia, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piauí, Pernambuco, Tocantins, Acre (Brazil), Cerrado, Mato Grosso, Pantanal, Rondônia, and Maranhao. Chinese Senna has compound, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph.
