Charadrius hiaticula (Common Ringed Plover) is a species of birds in the family Charadriidae. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in Antarctica, the Palearctic, the Nearctic, the Indo-Malayan Realm, and the Afrotropics. Common Ringed Plover is a diurnal invertivore. Individuals can grow to 74.5 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Common Ringed Plover has parental care (occasionally breeds cooperatively). It relies on flight to move around.
