Sterna hirundo (Common Tern) is a species of birds in the family Laridae. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Indo-Malayan Realm, the Neotropics, the Nearctic, the Afrotropics, Australasia, and the Palearctic. Common Tern is a diurnal vertivore. Individuals can grow to 145 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Common Tern has parental care (pair provides care). It relies on flight to move around.
