Nycticorax nycticorax (Black Crowned Night Heron) is a species of birds in the family Ardeidae. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Palearctic, the Nearctic, the Indo-Malayan Realm, Oceania (Australia and islands), Australasia, the Neotropics, and the Afrotropics. Black Crowned Night Heron is a nocturnal vertivore. Individuals can grow to 1014 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Black Crowned Night Heron has parental care (pair provides care). It relies on flight to move around.
