Dark brown with irregular dark spots anteriorly, interspersed with lighter granulations that form diffuse crossbars on the tail.Description: Characterized by Light brown color on head and front of body; dark brown over remainder of body, small black spots, white flecks; fin margins yellow; body depth at gill opening about 11-16 in TL; origin of dorsal fin anterior to gill opening; anus at about middle of body; five rows of canine teeth across front of upper jaw; two rows of teeth on each side of upper jaw; lower jaw with two rows of teeth in front, larger teeth in inner row (Ref. 90102).

體延長而呈圓柱狀，尾部側扁。吻圓；上下頜完全密合；上頜齒2-3排。脊椎骨數112-114。體色為暗棕色，頭部腹面色較淡，體側有許多明顯的黑點，約略規則排列成行，尾部有許多淡色的粒狀凸起，鰭邊緣為黃綠色。
棲地

主要棲息於潟湖或向海的珊瑚岩礁區域；通常被發現於拂浪區。喜歡隱藏在礁石間隙中，伺機捕食魚類或頭足類為生。

Gymnothorax buroensis és una espècie de peix de la família dels murènids i de l'ordre dels anguil·liformes.
Morfologia
Els mascles poden assolir els 35 cm de longitud total.[3]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba des del Mar Roig i l'Àfrica Oriental fins a les Tuamotu, les Illes Ryukyu i les Hawaii. També a Costa Rica, Panamà i les Illes Galápagos.[3]

Los machos pueden llegar alcanzar los 35 cm de longitud total.[1]
Distribución geográfica
Se encuentra desde el [Triángulo de las bermudas]] y el África Oriental hasta las Tuamotu, las Islas Ryukyu y Hawaii. También en Costa Rica, Panamá e Islas Galápagos.[1]

二名法 Gymnothorax buroensisBleeker,1857 伯恩斯裸胸鱔，又名伯恩斯裸胸鯙、錢鰻、薯鰻、虎鰻，為輻鰭魚綱鰻鱺目鯙亞目鯙科的其中一個種。
分布
本魚廣泛分布於印度太平洋區，包括紅海、東非、日本、澳洲、巴拿馬、哥斯大黎加等海域。
深度
水深0至40公尺。
特徵
本魚吻尖銳，體為暗褐色，有多數不甚明顯而不規則的黑斑，大小如眼徑，多少成行列，在尾部者成不規則之橫條紋，且有粒狀突起，鰭邊緣為黃綠色。體長可達31公分。牙齒尖銳，需小心咬傷。
生態
本魚為鯙科中較小型者，棲息環境為礁岩之洞穴或礁隙間，晝伏夜出，以節肢動物和其他魚類為食。
經濟利用
食用魚，煮清湯，味道鮮美，另外也可作為觀賞魚。
