It is native to New Zealand South, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand North, New Zealand, Northern Provinces, Victoria, Iceland, Europe, Namibia, Western Australia, Sakhalin, Queensland, Chatham Is., Føroyar, Norway, Tasmania, South Australia, Africa, Southern Africa, Greenland, Denmark, Cape Provinces, and Primorye. Common Brassbuttons has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.14 m.
