They are native to U.S. Virgin Islands, US Minor Outlying Islands, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, The Contiguous United States, and Puerto Rico. Flowers are visited by Vireo, Antillean Euphonia, Puerto Rican Tanager, and Loxigilla portoricensis. Individuals can grow to 11 m.
