They are native to Santa Catarina, Espirito Santo, Rio De Janeiro, Paraná, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Cerrado, Pernambuco, AmazôNia, Rio Grande Do Norte, Sergipe, Mata AtlâNtica, SãO Paulo, GoiáS, Ceará, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Distrito Federal, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, RondôNia, Minas Gerais, and ParaíBa. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 6 m.
