Frangula alnus (Alder Buckthorn) is a species of shrub in the family Rhamnaceae. They are native to Poland, Algeria, Albania, Italy, Tunisia, Lithuania, China, Finland, Yugoslavia, United Kingdom, Turkey, Ukraine, Estonia, Moldova, Spain, Georgia, Ireland, Germany, Iraq, Bulgaria, Morocco, Switzerland, Latvia, Austria, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, France, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Russia, Romania, Iran, Norway, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Portugal, Belarus, Greece, Syria, Hungary, and Belgium. Flowers are visited by Bombus lucorumterrestris, Common carder bumblebee, Tree Bumble Bee, and Viceroy.
