Cyperus flavescens (Yellow Flat Sedge) is a species of annual grass in the family sedges. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is associated with freshwater habitat. Yellow Flat Sedge is native to the contiguous United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Espirito Santo, Mata Atlântica, Caatinga, Tocantins, Sergipe, Mato Grosso do Sul, Amazônia, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Paraíba, Goiás, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Norte, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Pernambuco, São Paulo, Paraná, Piauí, Minas Gerais, Ceará, Pampa, Cerrado, and Roraima. It has simple, broad leaves and red flowers. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 2 feet.
