It is native to Guyana, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mata Atlântica, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, and Rio de Janeiro. It has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.35 m.
