They are native to Ukraine, Tunisia, mediterranean region, Italy, Israel, Algeria, France, Libya, Albania, Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Yugoslavia, and Turkey. They have simple, broad leaves and fleshy fruit. Flowers are visited by drone fly, Scaeva selenitica, and (page not found). Individuals can grow to 5 m.
