Wild Citrus

Shrub or small tree with arching branches. Younger branches armed with robust spines up to 2 cm long. Leaves imparipinnate with 2-4 pairs of opposite leaflets and a terminal leaflet; leaflets elliptic to obovate, covered in greyish hairs, translucent gland-dots present, strongly aromatic when crushed, margin scalloped; petiole and rhachis winged. Flowers in small branched sprays, axillary or on dwarf spur-branchlets, c. 10 mm in diameter, white or lemon-yellow. Fruit spherical, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, reddish-brown, dotted with oil glands.
