Description

Erect, sparsely-branched annual herb, up to 1 m high. Most parts with long, fiercely stinging hairs. Leaves broadly ovate to triangular, 4.5-15 cm long, 3-veined from the base; apex often caudate; margin with 10-18 large triangular teeth. Inflorescences branched, up to 30 x 10 cm, unisexual or bisaxual. Flowers unisexual; male flowers in seperate inflorescences in the lower leaf axils or on the lower part of bixexual inflorescences; female flowers in inflorescences in the upper leaf axils.
