Saponaria officinalis (Bouncingbet) is a species of perennial herb in the family carpetweeds. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have simple, broad leaves and purple flowers. Flowers are visited by Yellowjacket Hover Fly, cabbage butterfly, silver y, and Banded Hairstreak. Individuals can grow to 2.2 feet.
