Podophyllum (Mayapple)

provided by EOL authors
This plant appears as a pink flower around about May. As it grows the leaves shoot up and the flower hangs under the leaf. The green pod then appears after the flower hanging below the leaf. Later on the pod turns red and when ripe the seeds inside are blue.
