Stems 3-5 m. high, with glabrous branches and foliage; leaves numerous, the blades oblong or elliptic-oblong, 3-4 cm. long, 1—1.5 cm. wide, acute, entire or with a few minute callous teeth, narrowed to an acute base, glandular-punctate on both sides, on petioles 3-4 mm. long; inflorescence large, hemispheric, glabrous except a little pubescence on the peduncles; heads short-peduncled, 1 -flowered; involucre campanulate, pale-brown or straw-colored, 5-6 mm. high; scales glabrous on the back, ciliate, sharply acute, the outer ovate, the inner oblong; achenes villous, 2.5-3 mm. long; pappus white, 7-8 mm. long, the outer series capillaryirregular in length.
Type locality: Mexico.
Distribution: Michoacan, Morelos, and Guerrero.
