Pileus 3-8 mm. broad, hemispheric or campanulate, umbonate, brown when moist, palebuff or yellowish-white when dry, brown in herbarium specunens, hygrophanous, glabrous, striatulate on the margin when moist; lamellae adnexed, subdistant, ferruginous, cinnamon in dried plants, 1-2 mm. broad; veil forming an evanescent medium or superior annulus; stipe central, equal, concolorous with the pileus, shining, glabrous, solid, 1-2.5 cm. long, 1-2 mm. thick; spores ovoid or elliptic, minutely aspemlate, 6-8.5 X 3.5-4.5 fi; cystidia none.
Type locality: Catskill Mountains, New York. Habitat: Among hair-cap mosses. »
