Description of Stephanodiscus agassizensis

A common Stephanodiscus usually distinguished by fimbriae in the external opening of the areolae.  This species is similar to but larger than Stephanodiscus minutulus. Within an assemblage, specimens may have a spine at every costa, or spines may be more irregularly patterned.
