The mammalian genus Setifer contains only a single species, Setifer setosus, or the greater hedgehog tenrec. They are insectivores native to southern and south western Madagascar. Setifer setosus is one of six species in subfamily Tenrecinae (family Tenrecidae) all of which superficially resemble the hedgehog.
