Dorsoposterior edge of eye with a pair of supraorbital cirri. Long, somewhat pointed snout. Male with first dorsal fin high and elongate; and with an inverse Y-shaped, blackish brown blotch on the throat. The female with a large dark mark at the base of its pelvic fin (Ref. 37433).

體延長，縱扁。眼背上有一對眶上的觸鬚。
吻長而微尖。前鰓蓋骨強棘末端向上或平直，前端具倒棘，腹緣及基部平滑，背緣具四至六個稍彎曲棘突。側線幾乎平直或略彎曲。雄魚第一背鰭很高而且延長，雌魚則低；胸鰭延伸至臀鰭第3至4鰭條基部；腹鰭具膜與胸鰭中央基部相連；尾鰭皆為圓形。雄魚頭部黃褐色，體呈紅褐色，腹部淡色，散布大小不一白點及暗色斑，且在咽喉上有一個倒轉的暗褐色

形斑塊；第一背鰭上半部具弧形紋，下半部具散布白點及黑點；第二背鰭具數列白緣黑紋及一些白點；臀鰭一致為暗色；尾鰭具數條成垂直列之黑點與白紋。雌魚頭體一致為紅褐色，腹部淡色，散布大小不一白點及暗色斑；第一背鰭及腹鰭具土褐色斑；腹鰭的基底另具一個大的深色斑；胸鰭散在黑點；餘鰭透明，斑紋較不顯。/Paradiplogrammus

És un peix marí, de clima subtropical i demersal que viu entre 12-122 m de fondària.[3][5]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba al Japó,[6] Nova Caledònia, Hawaii[7] i Tonga.[8][3]
