Banzi virus

Il Banzi virus (BANV) è un arbovirus della famiglia dei Flaviviridae, genere Flavivirus, appartiene al IV gruppo dei virus a ((+) ssRNA).

Il virus BANV appartiene al gruppo dei virus della febbre gialla, gruppo costituito da nove specie del genere flavivirus.^[1]

Virologia

Il BANV è presente in Papua New Guinea.^[2][3] Il virus venne scoperto in Sud Africa nel 1956 ha come vettore la Culex spp mentre non è noto l'animale ospite.^[2] Il virus fa pare dei Flavivirus patogeni per l'uomo, infatti provoca febbre; è diffuso in Africa.^[4]
