This dwarf form of Aloe chabaudii is quite common on inselbergs in Nampula and Cabo Delgado provinces of Mozambique. It differs from typical A. chabaudii in that it is a much smaller plant, intensely suckering, it keeps its spotted leaves (juvenile condition in A. chabaudii) and has shorter flower pedicels (1 cm rather than almost 2 cm). My guess is that it deserves subspecies status within A. chabaudii. Here in Meluco district.
