When I'm in the groove, it's not unusual to come across a little group of lunkers here and there, but it's rare that I run into a whole pack of Largemouths, scouring through the grass like a school of Tangs or Bermuda Chub. As soon as one would find any morsels they would swarm down on it so quickly that you never get a chance to see what they're all chomping on.Rainbow River Marion County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M514-42mm II LensPT-EP08 Underwater Housing, PPO-EP01 Lens Port & 14-42mm Zoom Gear
The "old wife" is the only remaining species in it's family; all of it's closest relatives are now fossils. It is endemic to southern waters of Australia and often found in schools. The unfortunate common name refers to the sound it makes when caught; it sounds like the grinding teeth of an old wife. Who thought of that one?!?
A Largemouth Bass is backed into a corner in the shallow water along the bank around the rim of the springhead.
