Atherina hepsetus (Mediterranean Sand Smelt) is a species of bony fishes in the family Old World silversides. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are carnivores. Individuals can grow to 20.0 cm. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is iteroparous and oviparous.
