Vicia americana (American Vetch) is a species of perennial herb in the family Fabaceae. It is a climber. It is native to the contiguous United States, Canada, Alaska, United States, and western north america. American Vetch has compound, broad leaves and purple flowers. Flowers are visited by Icaricia saepiolus. American Vetch fixes nitrogen. It is a photoautotroph.
