Long-stemmed physonect siphonophores. Nectophores with large triangular thrust block; with lateral wedge-shaped processes reduced or absent. With upper, lower and vertical (meso-) lateral ridges; upper laterals divide above ostial level. Adaxial wall of nectosac lacking musculature; deeply hollowed. Long ascending pallial canal; short pedicular canal, giving rise, on nectosac, to only upper and lower radial canals; lateral radial canals arise separately from upper. Upper and lateral radial canals either looped or straight. Tentillum with straight (or twisted, but not tightly coiled) cnidoband; lacking an involucrum; with terminal filament. Palpons either absent or modified to form peculiar palpacleless oleocysts. Individual specimens of single sex (dioecious), with each gonophore budded from the pedicel of its predecessor to form a small gonodendron: female gonophores contain two or more eggs.
