Leaf blades 20–80+ × 3–15+ mm. Phyllaries ± lanceolate, 1–10 mm. Ray laminae 5–7+ mm. Disc corollas 4–5+ mm. Cypselae 3–4 mm; pappi 3–4 mm. 2n = 10.

Benitoa is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.[3][4][5][6]

Benitoa is a monotypic genus containing the single species Benitoa occidentalis, which is known simply as benitoa. It is sometimes included in genus Lessingia as the synonym Lessingia occidentalis.[7][2]

Benitoa is endemic to California, where it is known mostly from San Benito County, the region for which it is named. Additional populations have been found in nearby parts of Fresno and Monterey Counties.[8][7][9]

Descripción

Es una planta anual que alcanza un tamaño de 10-100 cm se altura. Tallos erectos, ramificados distales. Hojas caulinares (en floración), sésiles o pecioladas. Las inflorescencias en forma de corimbos.[5]​

Taxonomía

Benitoa occidentalis fue descrita por (H.M.Hall) D.D.Keck y publicado en Leaflets of Western Botany 8(2): 26. 1956.[6]​
