És un peix d'aigües profundes que viu entre 600-2380 m de fondària.^[5][7]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba a les Illes Kermadec, les Filipines,^[8] el Mar de Tasmània,^[9] l'illa de Socotra i l'Atlàntic tropical i subtropical (incloent-hi el Golf de Mèxic i el Carib).^[10][5]

The rudis rattail, Coryphaenoides rudis, is a fish of the family Macrouridae, found around the world in tropical and subtropical oceans, at depths between 600 and 2,300 m. Its length is between 30 and 40 cm, although FishBase gives lengths of up to 1.1 m.

Coryphaenoides rudis is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van rattenstaarten (Macrouridae).^[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1878 door Günther.

野突吻鱈（学名：Coryphaenoides rudis），又名鱈魚，为輻鰭魚綱鱈形目鼠尾鱈科突吻鱈屬下的一个种，為深海底棲性魚類，分布於全球三大洋熱帶至亞熱帶海域，深度660-2380公尺，體長可達111公分，棲息在底層水域，生活習性不明。
